I've got a 85 mercury 90hp. I droped the lower unit down and replaced the water pump. I noticed that someone has plugged the old line that went into the speedometer area. When I lowered the unit down it broke the line. Is this something I should worry about? water will enter this hole. Not sure if it is sealed up in the gear area.

It won't hurt anything, water cant get into the gear case from the speedo inlet.
